Historic Achievement at the Ladakh Umlingla Challenge!
We are thrilled to announce that the first race of the Summit or Surrender: Extreme Altitude Himalayan Race Series, the Ladakh Umlingla Challenge, took place yesterday, July 20, 2024!
Race Highlights:
- Race Categories: 50K Ultra Marathon and 21K Half Marathon
- Starting Point: Umlingla Top at an astonishing altitude of 19,300 feet (5882 meters)
- 50K Winner: Kapil Kohli from Dehradun, Uttarakhand with a finish time of 8 hours 32 minutes
- 21K Winner: Jaffar Ali from Kargil, Ladakh with a finish time of 1 hour 26 minutes
Milestones Achieved:
- First race of the Summit or Surrender Series
- First edition of the Ladakh Umlingla Challenge
- First Ultra Marathon (50K) winner: Kapil Kohli
- First Half Marathon (21K) winner: Jaffar Ali
